Tonight the NZ Breakers play the Townsville Croc’s in round 21 of the ANBL championship and whilst the season still has a few rounds left this game is crucial to the Breakers chances of remaining on top of the points ladder, with this being one of the last two remaining home games and still with 6 games to play every win is vital and home court advantage is everything.

Tonight is the 6th sell out game of the season, not bad for a team that had around 50 season members when i started sponsoring them in 2006, you have to had it to the Breakers organisation they have done a brilliant job of building both a team and a club culture around that and James Blond Ltd are very proud to be part of the whole thing.

Amongst some of the staff here at James Blond Ltd including myself, my two sons and Andrew who helps out with the finance for rental cars we are selling we have decided to enter a social league basketball team and since none of us have ever played before it should be very interesting since our understanding of the rules would be to say at best minimal, although having watched from the side i am sure we  know all about screens and some of the fouls.

Another problem we are probably going to have is that the tallest member of our team is my son James who is 191cm tall well short of what is really required for a forward or centre and with me being 53 and lacking some fitness it will be an interesting time on the court, but as they say if you don’t try you don’t know and it is a way of encouraging both of my sons into the participation side of sport.

It looks like such a funny thing to me to see the yard almost empty as it was yesterday night and on a Sunday night as well that does just not happen normally and proves to me just how busy we have been with vehicles going out on rent over the last couple of weeks.

I guess that now summer is finally here and the days have been hot and sunny rather than cold and rainy people that have had the chance to get away have done so and hence the demand for rental cars has soared and although we have never run out of cars we have been running on  a reduced choice for the last 5 or 6 days.

On Thursday night James Blond Ltd where the sponsor of the NZ Breakers game against the Woolongong Hawks and as part of the deal we where giving away a table to the first home semi final at a date yet to be announced, when the ANBL finals start and the Breakers continue their quest for back to back titles.

People where given the chance to text in to win and yesterday morning we collated the results of over 900 entries and using a very scientific method we printed all the entries out and spread them out on the floor, I then tossed a dart up in the air and it landed on the winning entry, congratulations Pradeep Patel who was the lucky winner and was also attending his first game at the NSEC.
